niche. life.

“Don’t wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles, and less-than-perfect conditions. So what? Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident, and more and more successful.” – Mark Victor Hansen

I spent a lot of time thinking about what “niche” I would relate to the most and what kinds of things I would write about. Quite honestly, I never even knew what a niche was until I started instagram. I was talking to my 19yo son after ringing in the new year, and asked him about it. He said “just write about life.” [insert mind blown emoji here] I swear, the things we overthink about sometimes can be so simple for our children.

This morning someone sent me a message on instagram about reading my first blog post and ended by saying “keep the authenticity coming!” Those words really resonated with me. Couple that with my son’s advice about just writing about life, I’m feeling a lot more confident about this whole blogging thing. I have to be honest though and say that one of my biggest fears about starting this blog is opening myself up to the world. I mean, it’s not like I’m going to lay my sh*t bare for everyone to see. I’ll just have to try to find a balance. Don’t worry fam, your secrets are still safe with me. LOL!

Anyways, I did manage to ring in 2020 awake! I feel like I’m winning already! I only got 2 hours of sleep though. Fortunately, I was not hungover, and I didn’t wake up with raccoon eyes and tangled hair. However, I didn’t wake up in my own bed either. No. No. It was’t that kind of night. We just happened to ring in the new year with family and slept over their house. I am laughing (not out loud) to myself right now because as I sit here blogging about not waking up in my own bed, I can’t help but hear Sarah Jessica Parker’s voice, as Carrie Bradshaw, narrating everything that I type. Yet my night was not as exciting as hers in Sex in the City. I really loved that show!

We spent New Year’s Day with family at GameWorks which has become one of our favorite family traditions. We started this tradition with my cousins a few years back and my daughter looks forward to it every year now. It’s always so nice to start off the new year with my crazy family. We literally take over the place for most of the day. Our kids are getting older now, so who knows how much longer we’ll be keeping this tradition. I hope we can keep it going for just a little longer because we barely see each other anymore and I really miss the days when we are together.

Well, I’ve avoided cleaning my house long enough. I woke up this morning trying to pump myself up and thought about how much cleaning I was going to do today. Made my coffee, let my dog out, then looked at the house. Decided that blogging would be more fun. Sigh. I guess I’ll end this post now before Morgan Freeman starts narrating my life about how quickly I gave up on my motivation to clean!

sincerely, Mitzelle

  1. Another great blog. I know this is the second one, but I can really get used to receiving these in my inbox.
